Highlights
from the
National Executive Board Meeting
June 29-30, 1999
- Increasing servicing and new programs and services to meet the challenges CUPE locals face marks the direction confirmed by the budget approved by the National Executive Board for the coming year.
- Funding has been allocated to replace the current SALAD system with a new on-line collective agreement data-base providing locals with the information they need when they need it.
- Direction for convention policy papers has been approved on Public Private Partnerships, Water, Racism, and Youth.
- The National Action Plan will focus on CUPE's role on "the front lines", defending jobs and public services, organizing the unorganized and collective bargaining.
- A workshop to coincide with the next NEB meeting will look at the strategic use of pension funds and pools of capital and the results will be integrated into the policy papers being prepared for convention.
