DIRECT ACTION!

The Council of Canadians has, in conjunction with labour, environmental, social, cultural and other organizations, been actively leading a campaign to inform the public about the Multilateral Agreement on Investment. Trudy Thorgeirson, a member of the mid-Island chapter of the Council of Canadians has contacted oil companies to ascertain consumer options when it comes to fueling up with, or without MMT. What she has discovered, thus far (Chevron, Shell, Imperial Oil and PetroCan have been polled), is that the only source of MMT-free gasoline in B.C. is Chevron 87 regular. Trudy suggests that consumers contact the B.C. government and request the option of being able to purchase MMT-free gasoline…and ask government why B.C. cannot ban MMT as the government of the State of California has done.
