So why do we keep electing them?

Nearly nine out of 10 Canadians (88 per cent) believe that politicians are willing to lie to get elected, according to a survey done by a research team of political scientists.

And a smaller majority - 57 per cent - think that "quite a few" politicians in a governing party "are a little crooked." The same number say they "have no confidence at all" in the federal government.

The study was part of a series funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
